Movie Night: The Rookie

Movie NightAmy WileyComment

Friday means movie night is up to bat and summer is a splendid time for a baseball theme! This week we are watching The Rookie and this whole night was inspired by one snack I snagged at Trader Joe’s. I love how a simple treat can become a whole theme.

Do you see my new little movie night sign? I love it!

We always enjoy movies based on a true story and The Rookie is just that. It’s a Texas tale of a high school baseball coach and a team wager that ends with him taking another shot at the big leagues. It’s inspiring and heart-warming.

This Grand Slam popcorn mix was the inspiration behind this whole movie night. It was perfect for munching during a baseball movie.

I can’t tell you how absolutely thrilled my kids were when they saw Big League Chew on the tray. Honestly, my husband was excited too. That’s what movie night is all about… taking a break from the everyday and indulging in the unexpected.

We ate dinner on our porch in true summer fashion. A simple pack of plates added to our own dishes completed the baseball feel. Hot dogs were on the menu, of course!

There’s nothing quite like a relaxed summer evening, a feel-good movie, and some stellar snacks as a family. I encourage you to watch this one… it’s a home run!
